He leads me besides still waters, He restores my soul

Read psalms 23, it's one of my favorites.

We started off so good this morning. We were up and ready to go by 8:15ish. All packed up, already ate, and bike completely strapped down. Then Paul's bike decided to pop two of our last spare tubes before we officially hit the road. Thankfully there was a bike shop in town( we weren't originally planning on hitting up), but now we need extra tubes.

We met the bike owner, Nicholas, and while we were there we decided to show him other problems we had run into. This is Tommy's rack...

It may be hard to see but it has broke in 3 places. The strut (part that connects frame to the rack) snapped and is replaced  by colorful Zip ties and duct tape. Both sides of the rack itself have snapped due to the torque of the bike. It has been reinforced with a tent stake(thanks to Shane!), the broken strut, and our "go to" Zip ties and duct tape. Haha, unbelievable.

So having his work cut out for him(cause mine had similar problems as well), Nicholas started his work. He was amazed at our "make it work"mentality, and surprised we had gotten this far having as many problems as we have had. We are too haha.

It was a long process because of the items he had at the shop, but he grew up with an army back ground and had to learn to make "it" work with the items at hand. Basically thinking outside the box. He was good at it for sure.

This is Tommy's bike now...
It's hard to see, but it is a new rack with two struts attached to the bike by a bike air pump holder. It's working out phenomenally. Haha so good.

By this time it was about 2:30ish by the time we left and we were definitely in "veg mode". We had been lounging for so long(which felt so good), and had to motivate ourself back onto the saddle. We ended up making it roughly 35 miles today to Rico, Co where we are posted up underneath a pavilion near a stream.
It's a beautiful place.

This trip is not going according to our plan. But you know what? That's ok. The three of us are continuing to learn to set plans and goals for the days to come, strive for them, but hold those plans loosely so to speak. God has a plan for us. For our trip, for our lives, and yours. God gave us rest today. To enjoy conversation with each other, to nap, to reflect on this trip and what he has done for us, and  we even played cards tonight. Really cool day and it wouldn't have happened if Paul's bike didn't pop the tubes to make us stay in town for a few more hours. He has purpose in everything, and a plan that is better than ours.

The Lord is my Shepherd i shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures,  He leads me besides still waters, He restores my souls...~psalm 23

Early rise tomorrow to get some good mileage in. Peace y'all, thanks for following our adventure.
